Locating Parents for Nonpayment of Child Support

| Main Civil | Family | Property | Warrants | Class C | Research |

For assistance with child support warrants call the Constable 5 help line at 512-854-9582 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. After hours and on weekends you can call the AG hotline at 1-800-252-8014 or TCSO at 512-854-9751.

Travis County Pct. 5 deputies and staff work closely with the Texas Attorney Generals office to locate parents wanted for nonpayment of child support in cases handled by the AG Child Support Division and the Travis County Domestic Relations Office.

Warrants are issued for Travis County parents wanted on contempt-of-court charges that stem from their failure to pay child support. Delinquent parents must appear for court hearings that can result in sentences of up to six months in jail. Cash bonds that parents post to get out of jail are paid to the custodial parents and children who are owed back child support.

Under state and federal law, the Office of the Attorney General is obligated to assist families who request child support services and is required to assist those families who currently receive or have received public assistance. Services offered by the Child Support Division include locating absent parents; establishing paternity for children born to unmarried parents; establishing, enforcing, and modifying child and medical support orders; and collecting and distributing child support payments.
